Important considerations when writing your CV – the quicker the reader understands you, the quicker you will get a result
These points may seem obvious but will make reading your CV easier for employers and recruiters. Our mantra is always “ Give yourself the most positive chance of a response” – if no one wants to engage with you, you have “no choice”.
· Use a work appropriate email – not a fun one you use with your friends
· Include a mobile number – texts still get sent. May be indicate when is easiest to get hold of you.
· To protect your identity you don’t need to put your full address but make sure you include the town or area of city where you live or want to be
· State your mode of travel to work
· Put the month and year that you were employed 2023 to 2024 could be 2 months or two years.
· Don’t use jargon or acronyms that relate only to your employers and industries.
· If you want to work in a specific industry that you already have experience of, give a very brief explanation of what the employer does alongside the name of your employer.
· Include an overview of what you would like to do and the key skills that enable you to do that job. Then bullet point special and key skills.
· Do not use AI generated CVs at the moment in the main they can waste yours and recruiter/employers time through inaccuracy.
· Always preview your CV is on the job board to see how it looks to the reader. Many CV are either not uploaded or truncated by the job board.
